Forty years ago, I set out with great enthusiasm on a mission to impact Africa with God’s love. I wanted to reach as many people as possible with the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! But I soon realized that the best way to reach the most people with the Gospel was to train, equip, and deploy others to carry the good news. Thus, AGM began training pastors in 1984. Over the past 38 years, we’ve trained tens of thousands of men and women all across Africa. In turn, these zealous servants of Christ have planted churches, won souls, and spread the Gospel throughout the world.

Today, AGM continues to multiply our global impact by raising a new generation of leaders. Here are three of our current pastors-in-training:

Meet Bright Owusu Koko – From idolatry to Ambassador for Christ!

Bright was disillusioned by the idol-worshipping practices he saw in his family in their hometown of Asante Akyem in Ghana. To distance himself from their distasteful sacrifices, he began attending church in his early 20’s, where he met Jesus. Bright answered God’s call to ministry in 2018, and began evangelizing in Kumasi, Ghana’s second largest city.

When Bright heard of Agape Bible College, he immediately applied for the Agape Pastoral Training Program. He was accepted and began the program in January of this year. “I am so in love with the experiences, discipline, and order I am receiving from Agape Bible College. The APTP is shaping my way of thinking. When the mind is renewed, the actions are also renewed. I have totally changed my perception of Bible School and even Christianity itself. Agape is a very good soil to grow in.”

Bright is eternally grateful to God for the opportunity provided to him by Pastor Whitcomb and all the generous AGM partners in the USA. “I am prepared to fight whole-heartedly for the Kingdom through my actions and service. My family, my community, and my nation will taste God’s goodness.

Here’s Michael Asamoah, 32 – A Professional soccer player

Michael rarely attended church as a child in his hometown of Offinso in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He left Offinso in his early 20s and became a professional soccer player. But his team was heavily engaged in occult rituals – and Michael became tormented by the evil atmosphere. He resigned from his team and began to seek God earnestly. After surrendering his life to Christ, he became an active worker in his local church.

It was during this period of service in his home church that Michael was first introduced to the Agape Bible College. He was enrolled in January of this year, and it has been a life-changing experience for him. “God is using Agape to build discipline in me and also to develop humility in me. I am getting incredible insights on how to interpret the scriptures. God is equipping and perfecting me to reach the lost. I am convinced that I need this training because in order to save lives you must have enough lifesaving information.”

Michael thanks God for the obedience of the Whitcombs and for the generous support of the AGM partners in the USA. “Agape is the ideal place to be equipped with God’s Word for God’s work! Thank you for helping to train me for the ministry.”

Lasisi Adebayo Onimisi, 32 – Jesus appeared to him!

Lasisi was raised in a polygamous Moslem household in Kogi State, Nigeria. He went to college and was very successful in his academics, but something was missing. One night he had a dream that prompted him to pray. “God was merciful, and Jesus revealed Himself to me,” Lasisi recalls.

Soon after his encounter with Jesus, Lasisi began following the online broadcast of Pastor Whitcomb on Facebook so that he could grow his faith. That was where he heard of the APTP and applied for enrollment. “It has been a wonderful experience ever since. I have learned a lot about time management and how to run a church. I have received new perspectives on the things of Christ. I practice all the lessons and principles we are taught and believe me, I have had a lot of supernatural moments with Christ. Every Christian should experience the atmosphere at Agape Bible College.”

Lasisi praises the Lord for revealing Himself to him, and for providing an opportunity through Pastor Whitcomb and the AGM partners in the USA to make it possible for him to become equipped to be a minister of the gospel of Jesus.

God is doing great things in Agape Bible College as we raise pastors and leaders for this generation. I truly believe that our greatest impact lies ahead as we continue to train, equip, and deploy laborers for Christ.

We provide full scholarships to all our pastors-in-training. It costs us $250 per month per student, including all costs for an accredited seminary degree plus living expenses. This June, we are hosting pastors and leaders from all over Africa at our church for three days of training, networking, and fellowship. We will provide this training FREE of charge so that anyone who wants to will be able to come.
